May 7th, 2024 - FALMOUTH - Representative Dylan Fernandes made a surprise appearance at Falmouth High School on Thursday to honor Michael Feeney, Falmouth Public Schools’ social studies department head. Rep. Fernandes presented Feeney with a citation from the Massachusetts House of Representatives in recognition of Feeney being named the 2024 recipient of the Charles Mitsakos Award for Outstanding Supervisor by the Massachusetts Council for the Social Studies.
"Mr. Feeney has dedicated his career to inspiring students and elevating social studies education in Falmouth," said Representative Fernandes. "His lifelong passion for teaching and commitment to his students shines through in his work everyday and he is more than deserving of this prestigious award."
A veteran educator, Feeney is currently in his seventh year as social studies department head. Before that, he was a social studies teacher for 13 years. National Teacher Day is celebrated on May 7th.
