May 6th, 2024 - FALMOUTH - On Saturday, Representative Dylan Fernandes issued a Massachusetts House of Representatives citation to World War II veteran and Falmouth resident Robert “Bob” Mercurio, who turns 100 years old on May 9th.

“Mr. Mercurio’s life is an inspiration,” said Representative Fernandes. “His dedication to duty, honor, and country exemplifies the very best of the Greatest Generation. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations for years to come. Falmouth is fortunate to have such a remarkable individual in our community.”

"Mr. Mercurio’s enduring legacy of patriotism is a model we all can follow,” said Senator Susan Moran, who presented a companion Massachusetts Senate citation. "Today, we celebrate not just a milestone in time but a lifetime of service and sacrifice. Born in Everett, Massachusetts, Mr. Mercurio served his country as a Navy radioman, first class, from 1942 to 1946, followed by an additional four years in the Reserves, discharging in 1950.
