September 17, 2024 – The American Federation of Teachers–Massachusetts (AFT MA) and the Massachusetts Teachers Association (MTA) have endorsed Representative Dylan Fernandes in his campaign for State Senate. These endorsements underscore Fernandes’ deep commitment to public education, labor rights, and the well-being of students and educators across the state.
“Massachusetts is a leader in education because of the hard and too-often overlooked work of our teachers,” said Fernandes. “Every student in our state deserves access to quality education and I am proud to be the only candidate who supported the increased funding that has paid for the Student Opportunity Act and universal school meals for our children.”
"Representative Fernandes has always been a public school champion on our issues, whether it is protecting collective bargaining rights to helping us organize new workers, he always supports our members and that is why we have endorsed his candidacy and need his voice and experience now in the Massachusetts State Senate chamber,” said AFT MA president Jessica Tang.
Fernandes is a staunch advocate for early education and K-12 public schools. He’s working to ensure our kids have the resources they need to succeed, from preschool through college. In the Senate, he’ll continue to push for stronger funding for public schools and teacher salaries.
